چکیده

The study investigates feeding habits of thermophilic species and with subtropical affinity in the fishing catch Bay Medulin (northeastern Adriatic Sea), contributes to knowledge about their presence recently extended distributional range. In our methodology, Seriola dumerili, Sphyraena sphyraena, Lichia amia, Coryphaena hippurus, Caranx crysos, Pomatomus saltatrix, incidence Trachinotus ovatus is recorded. A total 220 specimens are captured during 2017, 2018 2019. dietary assessment performed, index relative importance IRI was calculated for each prey category. Diet overlap using Schoener’s index, based on IRI. principal diet C. hippurus included Sardina pilchardus Loligo vulgaris. saltatrix consumed from Sparidae family T. crustaceans Mysidacea family. Different genus Atherina represented important foods L. S. dumerili sphyraena. Diets significant amia fishes Sparidae, sphyraena Carangidae family, Clupeidae Muliidae families. Our analysis suggests no between analysed fish Bay, that these utilise differing trophic niches.

Preliminary data on the study of otolith morphology of five pelagic fish species from the Adriatic Sea (Croatia)

In teleosts, the inner ear is a complicated structure of canals, sacs and ducts filled with endolymph. Each otic sac contains the otoliths of a calcareous structure named sagitta, lapillus or asteriscus (BOND, 1996). The otoliths differ in size and shape. In most species sagitta otolith is the biggest one and mostly used in during the ageing of fish. Even though the otoliths inside the inner ea...

Cadmium and lead in selected tissues of two commercially important fish species from the Adriatic Sea.

Baseline levels of cadmium and lead were determined in muscle tissue and liver of hake (Merluccius merluccius) and red mullet (Mullus barbatus), two commercially important fish species from the eastern Adriatic. Concentrations of trace metals in liver (Cd: 6-183 microg kg(-1) w. wt. ; Pb: 39-970 microg kg(-1) w. wt.) were within the range of recently published data for the Mediterranean. In the...
